Petition for Change

In 2016, the Utah legislature passed a law that allowed all survivors of child sexual abuse to file claims against their perpetrators.  In the 2020 case, Mitchell v. Roberts, the Utah Supreme Court struck down the new law, saying it could only be used if changes were made to the Utah constitution. Since then, nothing has changed.

Changing the Utah constitution starts with the Utah legislature. Please sign the petition below to encourage the legislature to act, so that survivors of child sexual abuse who were born before 1993 can once again file claims against the perpetrators of those crimes.  Your address is not required, but it is helpful to direct your signature to the proper lawmakers.
